New York, NY, March 10, 2016 – Nationally recognized non-profit organization Women in Music and SyncSummit have joined forces to present the first annual Women in Sync awards on Wednesday, June 15, 2016 in New York City at The Roxy Hotel. The awards will recognize the achievements of female artists, music supervisors, managers, producers, creative directors, songwriters, brand and agency executives as well as those working in the fields of brand and interactive media.

The Women in Sync Awards are comprised of 16 categories designed to acknowledge the women that make original music and license music for visual, interactive media, branded entertainment and advertising across television, film, games, mobile and the internet.

Fifteen of the winners will be selected through a two-round nomination process open to the public on www.womeninmusic.org and www.syncsummit.com. The first round of voting will commence on Tuesday, March 15, 2016 allowing participants to nominate any woman they wish to.

In the second voting round, starting on Monday, April 22, 2016, voters will then make one choice from the three most popular nominees for each category. Voting officially ends on Tuesday, May 31, 2016 with all awards presented and announced at the Women in Sync awards ceremony on June 15.

Tickets to the ceremony are $25 for Women in Music members, $50 for non-members and included for all SyncSummit NY attendees.

The organizers will jointly present the annual “Sound And Vision” Award, given to an industry leader who’s made a profound impact on the visual media, interactive media or branded entertainment and advertising.

The Women in Sync Awards is supported through a comprehensive online awareness campaign including podcast interviews, blog post features and dedicated profiles on the Women in Music and SyncSummit websites.

“Women in Music are delighted to embark on this initiative to recognize the excellent work done by women in the worlds of music licensing and composition for entertainment, branding and advertising,” said Jessica Sobhraj, President, Women in Music. “In terms of female presence, sync licensing and composition is one of the few areas of the music business where women have a powerful, influential presence, and by launching the Women in Sync Awards, we hope to build recognition for their important contribution to the industry,”

“As the well-deserved trend of honoring women in technology continues to rise, SyncSummit is excited to collaborate with Women in Music in creating the Women in Sync Awards. We believe the significant impact of women on how music is made for and used in all forms of media and messaging should be properly honored. This is our aim in partnering on the Women in Sync Awards,” added SyncSummit CEO Mark Frieser.
